Remote Scheduling with TVEngine2? (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I'm running MP 0.2.3 RC3 with TVEngine2 (don't want to use TVEngine3 due to channel switching problems and the continuous timeshift that I don't want)!
It's running on a dedicated MediaPC, so Windows is not to appear in normal operation mode!

Is there any way to create new scheduled recording events remotely, let's say from another PC on the local network?
I would normally use VNC for that purpose, however, It crashes immediately if MP is started (probably because MP is using ActiveX effects?).

So has anyone had the same problem and maybe figured out a solution (maybe even a setting in VNC?).
A good idea probably would be a webinterface that would write new schedule events to the same file MP would do.
This way there would be no need for a VNC connection, and MP would just read the new schedules from that file?

Best regards,

Heiko

there was the first MP web interface, which was excellent but became not as popular since it only works with TV engine 2.
    Here's the link http://www.mp-webinterface.com/mambo/
I'm not sure if it still works woth newer versions on MP, since the devs have stopped supporting it (as far as I know).

As for VNC, a lot of people here use VNC as remote connections to MP, so not sure what the problem is on your set up. RDC definately won't work though.

    Thanks for your reply.
I maybe will try the webinterface, that's actually what I'm looking for.

I definitively will try RealVNC again.
Are there really people out there that remote-control a MP running on primary display in full screen mode?
Maybe I should give UltraVNC a try?

    Best regards,
