Hi all,

In basic words.... does a plugin/utility exist to remote schedule recordings, either using a PC or iphone, that will wake the system to SCHEDULE?
I have and use iPimp, when the HTPC is in sleep it dont work. Havent tried 4TR yet but considering how long and painful the instructions look i'd rather check before i waste a weekend.

In australia we have something called icetv which uses a little program installed on your PC to schedule recordings in media center. Icetv does not have that interaction with mediaportal (yet) so i need something else. BTW icetv never woke the system up to schedule recordings either, it would only wake for recordings that were previously scheduled when the HTPC automatically woke at 5pm daily to synchronise schedules.

Does that make sense? Hope so

Be gentle please

    Hi there,

Can you confirm if Mediaportal is waking your HTPC for any schedule recordings you make (eg: via the local EPG)?

In theory iPimp queries/adjusts the same location that normal schedules are stored.

    Can you post your logs/config.

    Thanks,

    J.

    Hi Jay

Yep can confirm it's waking up perfect for locally scheduled recordings no problem. Recordings scheduled using iPiMP when the HTPC is awake work fine too. I'm on about scheduling a recording when it's asleep say middle of the day when I'm in work, it wud wake up (somehow) receive the scheduling information and then go back to sleep until the show is actually on when it would wake again to record.

I read somewhere WoL with iPiMP doesn't work if ur running MP on a standalone system, only with an extender pc or something. (that is unless u tell ur standalone system never sleep that is). I'll get the link I read that in for you soon, just out the house now so it's difficult

    Cheers

    Hi there,

I'm confused (doesnt take much) :(

Are you saying you want to be able to wake your HTPC to use iPimp to schedule a recording (at a later date)?

Or are you saying a scheduled recording via iPimp do not wake the HTPC when the show starts (ie you schedule via iPimp today, to record something tomorrow and its doesnt wake tomorrow)?

WOL is not part of iPimp, I dont think iPimp has anything to do with WOL??

I have iPimp installed on my single/multiseat server, I use a WOL application on my phone to wake my HTPC if I need to access iPimp when the HTPC is a sleep.

iPimp doesn't wake your HTPC or anything, it is purely a web interface. The TVServer part of MePo controls the scheduling and "waking" of the HTPC for recordings (to my knowledge) ;)

Yes thats exactly what im saying!!! (or an alternative..... 4TR?)

Oh now thats interesting, whats the app called?

I know thats what im getting at...

I need either the WoL app you use in combination with iPimp or another tool that does both WoL+Remote scheduling, thats why was also inquiring about 4 The Record

    Hi there,

There are several apps/websites for waking a device via WOL:

    iNet/iNetWOL
    Depicus

Some are iPhone apps, some are websites that allow you to generate a WOL packet and send it to your router. If you want to wake over the internet, you will need to configure your router to pass the WOL packet (maybe an open port), you might need DDNS enabled so that you can find your router (if you dont have a static address).

I would suggest you test the waking of your HTPC from your local LAN first - to ensure it wakes when a WOL packet is sent.

I'm not sure about 4TR and WOL - its been a long time since I've used it.
