Replacement driver fully obsoleted? (2 Viewers)

Hi !

I may have misunderstood something in the instructions, but after disabling the HID driver, I can no longer wake up the machine with the MCE remote. Is this supposed to still work, or does it mean that I have to go back to the replacement driver to get the full feature set of the MCE replacement plugin?

IRServersuite now replaces the plugin as stated by and-81, try it much more versatile.

When you say you disabled the HID driver, you used the method I describe right? You disable the HidIr service?

It should still be able to wake the PC as there is no driver interaction while the PC is asleep.

Just double check the USB driver listed in Device Manager, if you go to it's properties there is usually checkbox "allow this device to wake the computer" or something like that. Just make sure that's ticked.

Also, run the MCE Standby tool and see if that can help. I keep forgetting to tell people about that.

If you use the Replacement Plugin or IR Server Suite then you shouldn't need to use the replacement driver at all.

After you removed the replacement driver, but before you disabled HidIr, did it work?

After deinstalling the replacement driver, I can still wake up the computer with the remote. However, after disabling HIdIR, according to the procedure you have described, I can not.

After disabling HIdIR, I can not find any "allow this device to wake the computer"for any device under USB section in the device manager. Before disabling HIdIR there was such an alternative though (which I did check), under the HID section.

I have not tried MST yet.

I am using MCE2005 BTW.

I currently am facing the same issue using the Vista 32bit replacement driver. I can take the pc into standby, but cannot bring it back out. I have the hauppuage MCE remote and use it with HIP to configure the buttons.

By the way, great job and-81 for this driver replacement.

Just wanted to report that I now got the time to test the new method of making the ehome driver behave like the replacement dirver. This resolved my wakeup from standby issue., it works perfectly now ! A word of advice to those who use XP mce 2005: Make sure the mce receiver service is disabled, otherwise it seems to interfere with the IR server suite somehow..

I'm sorry to say that the replacement driver will probably always have standby/resume issues for some users. You should of course try the MCE Standby Tool (forum or google search for it) and see if that solves the problem.

If that doesn't work then you could try switching to IR Server Suite instead of HIP... of course, I don't want to talk you into moving away from HIP if it does what you want, HIP is great.

Is there anything you can do in HIP that you can't with IR Server Suite? If there is then I would like to make sure I include it in the next version of IRSS.

I don't get it... I think I've done all the procedures, but I can't wake it up after the reg change. Please (snälla) explain how you did it.

I have MCE remote, IR-server suite, and Vista 32. I have also tried MCE Standby Tool with no luck.

Don't believe I made anything special, just removed the reg entries as Aaron described (need to reinstall ehome driver if you use the replacement driver of course). Could wake it up after that. Had to disable the MCE receiver service to get MP to respond to the remote though.

I have MCE2005 on my machine, so there could be some differences there. I assume your motherboard and BIOS are set up correctly to enable USB wakeup? You also need to checkmark "allow this device to wake.." for ehome under HID devices in the device manager (assuming it works the same way in Vista..)
