Have some ideas and requests.

I'd really like to order shows with production number since DVD orders are not always in order (Ex: Eureka S01).

Maybe like an option inside mediaportal. Since I don't like to rename episodes (Did that with Futurama, Aired>DVD order, and it was hell ).

Could be an option inside each series where you can choose which order you want. Aired, DVD or Production.

This would be hell of a lot easier than to rename the eps and choose DVD order and even switch between them if you don't like one.

What do you think?

So you'd like to order them independently from the lookup of the season/episode number by any field and on a per series basis.

It would be doable, in fact it wouldn't even be that hard, if it wasn't for the way views are designed to work right now. For simple views like season-episode it could be overriden by a series database field that tells it what to sort by, but it requires certain restrictions that have to be thought about. If it wasn't on a per series basis you can even do it yourself today (by editing the view definitions inside the database directly) or even add a view yourself that only contains the few series you want this to happen for. But if you do this expect it to be broken in the future as views are being redesigned at the moment (at which point you'll be able to do what i jus said from the config).

If you'd like to try that way and you need help, let me know, its pretty easy to do but you need to understand a bit how it all works together.

I wouldn't want to mess the the database right now since I'm moving soon.

There are many series with incomplete production codes and DVD orders (Especially unfinished series) so there would have to be fallbacks. If you choose Production order and season 2 doesn't have any of those it chooses DVD order if it's present otherwise Aired order. Same if you choose DVD and it isn't present you get Production then Aired. Of course season 1 with production/DVD order present should use it.

btw I had another idea but it wasn't really important so I didn't make a thread, just thought I'd say it. A schedule of the shows you're watching. I know it wouldn't really be practical since people watch series on different channels and stuff. You don't have to say anything I just wanted to write that down.
