Request: SIP caller id (1 Viewer)

Hi guys and girls,

What I would really love is caller id for sip.
I have a sip phone and would love to see a pop-up when watching a movie showing me who is calling, unfortunately I am not a programmer.
That way I'll know if it's worth pausing my movie and walking to the phone.
Doesn't have to be fancy or complicated, just caller id for sip.

Althou for those how have a sip account, rember that you can't connect several users to the same username. to be able to have several connected users you need an asterisk (not sure about the spelling on that) to split the connected as a router

I would also like to see this happen.
over at http://www.lothianproductions.co.uk/hvoipm/ there is a hardware voip monitor that does work with the likes of pap2 and some others.
Also on the site is the source code for the program, maybe this can be of some use to get some kind of plugin released.

Would be real useful too - i know there is a skype plugin but i have a standard SIP account and a caller ID pop up when the phone goes off would be really cool!

Anyone looking into this at all?

Update: It is possible - you can install a softphone and a piece of software from vonalink - screen pop Arcosoft Inc. VONaLink - ScreenPop for Windows - this includes a virtual modem that you can then cinfigure YAC to use for Caller ID and forward onto MP.

Bit of a pain in the ass but it works!

OK so update on how to get this working:

1. Install softphone - i installed the X-Lite softphone provide by my SIP priovider (SIPGate)
2. Download Eval copy of screenpop from Vonalink and install, configure to use softphone
3. Install virtual modem software to work with screenpop - instructions in readme file with download
4. Install YAC caller ID software
5. Configure YAC to use modem installed in part 4
6. Configure YAC for MP use - set listener IP, number formats etc...

An alternative (and free) way to get SIP caller id is as follows:

Install a softphone onto the HTPC - I use the X-Lite sofphone but am lookinf for one that doesnt pop up when rung.
Install WinPcap
Install vonagesniff and configure the config file for your port and the IP address of your MP listener
