Resuming MP with HIP (1 Viewer)

Hi there,

Due to my MCE remote receiver being a little non-compliant (Haupaugge PVR-150 MCE), IR Server Suite learning functions don't work.

I would like to use HIP with the Windows Message Plugin for remote control and IR blasting. It is working great, with one exception:

When I resume from S3 standby, MP seems to be running, but it is invisible. I can see my Windows taskbar, a black desktop background (not my actual wallpaper). When pressing keys on the remote, I can hear the MP sounds. Also, if I press the Start key on the keyboard I can see MP in the taskbar, but when I select it, it stays invisible. The only way to get it back is to close MP (Alt-F4) and restart the program.

When HIP is not running and I am using IR Server Suite to Suspend the PC, it resumes no problem.

MP 0.2.3
nVidia GEforce 4200 Ti, latest driver from nVidia
DirectX 9c
XP Pro SP2

Any ideas guys?

What happens if you press a button on your keyboard? Does MediaPortal come back?

Edit: Also, You never got back to me about using the girder plugin in IR Server Suite ... HIP uses the MceIr.dll to access the device, so there should be no difference in the access method if you use the girder plugin feature of the Input Service. You said there was an exception when you tried to use it, but you never told me any more info about what the exception is ?

I'm happy to try and help out if there is a problem with the Windows Message Plugin (I wrote that too), but I'd also like to get IR Server Suite working 100% ...

Also, you should know that you can learn the commands in HIP and then just copy the files over for IR Server Suite to use ... that would get around the learning problem (as long as blasting works).

    Cheers,

Thanks for getting back to me, again!

    To answer your questions:

    - If I press a button on the keyboard, it dosen't come back.

    - Attached is the text from the exception error when using MceIr.dll as a Girder Plugin/

    - I copied the learnt ir files from HIP to the IR Command folder for IR Server Suite, and it blasts them (red light flashes), which is awesome! However, they don't work. Do they need to be converted to a different format?

    Thanks!

Can you attach one of the IR files here so I can take a look?

I've started on a program to convert the old format files into Pronto codes, and it can correct the carrier frequency by interpreting the code.

Here is an IR command I recorded in HIP. It works when blasting from HIP. How can you detect the carrier freq? Do you have an analysis application?

    Cheers!

When blasting from hip it works (I'm making an educated guess here) because it is using the default carrier frequency. Which happens to be different to the default I've decided upon, 36khz, which was chosen due to it being the carrier frequency of the most common protocols.

I've analysed the ir code you recorded and it is of the RCA protocol which has a carrier frequency of 56khz. A notable difference from the default.

I've re-encoded your file into Pronto format and assigned the correct carrier frequency. Give it a try and let me know how you get on. The process I've used could be refined into a simple program for converting old codes to the preferred format, but I doubt it would get much use. Especially once I get the learning and blasting working correctly for your device.

Also, make sure you're using the latest version with the MceTransceiver update from later in the release thread.

    hope that helps,
