Aaron,

a while back you mentioned you were working on a solution to be able to run both the replacement plugin on tv server and media portal on the same machine. Have you made any progress on this yet? I know you've been working on other stuff, so I was just wondering if this was still going to happen.

Aaron,

I think that you have quite a fan-base out here eagerly waiting for news on your project to enable the great MCE Replacement plugin to share the MCE blaster between both the Server and Client on a single machine.

Can you let us know how you are progressing?

Thanks,
Mark

    IR Server Suite

    Hey guys,

You might have seen me talking in other threads over the last couple of weeks about how the release of a new plugin/application suite is imminent. Well, it is very close now. I will go so far as to say that I _will_ release a beta version this week.

    Here's what you can expect:

    - MCE Replacement Plugin style setup and interface.
    - Two kinds of MCE remote support. One that uses the MceIrApi, one that is written in C# and works like MyBlaster does.
    - USB-UIRT, IgorPlug, XBCDRC, and IRMan IR device support, with the ability to add more later.
    - A remote control plugin for MediaPortal like MCE Replacement Plugin, a channel changer plugin for TV Server that is like my test TVE3 MCE Blaster plugin, and a gui plugin for MediaPortal which is a bit like "My Programs" but for blasting and macros and the like. I think you'll like it even though it is the newest of the features and still needs work.
    - A program called "Translator" that works very similarly to HIP, as well as a simple Tray Launcher app.
    - A program that displays a picture of a remote control and lets you simulate remote button presses, as well as a skin editor for the "virtual remote control" so you can have it look and act like any remote. It will come with MCE Remote skins and some Xbox 1 remote skins. I'll add more later.
    - Everything (plugins/apps) works on the one PC or over a LAN.
    - It will let you control MediaPortal and have TV server control an STB on the same PC at the same time. But the Client and Server could be on separate machines as well and it wouldn't make any difference.

It's a fairly big project that I've been working on since only a few short weeks after I started the MCE Replacement Plugin. Due to the size of it I don't want to release it with a lot of bugs or I'd get swamped. I want to get as many bugs ironed out before I let it loose on the general public.

I have a gentleman testing the USB-UIRT support at the moment and if it is working I will release the first public beta within a few days. Even if it's not I'll release something this week. Maybe with some of the more buggy/faulty components removed for the first release so I can concentrate on core functionality.

I can tell you that I've been using this setup with my MCE remote control for my HTPC for the last month and it's working very well. Your results will of course vary :) And I don't have a set top box attached to my HTPC, so the TV Server plugin will probably have the most bugs.

So keep an eye on the MCE Replacement Plugin sub-forum, I _will_ release something this week.

Note: This plugin/application suite will require MediaPortal 0.2.2.0 + SVN. I won't support 0.2.2.0 without SVN. This is mainly because of the inclusion of the TV 3 Server plugin.

Also, so you know when you see it, it's called "IR Server Suite".

    Cheers,

    Hi Aaron,

Thanks for the very quick and detailed response.

This sounds fantastic. Let me thank you in advance for all the hard work that must be going in to it. I will keep an eye open for further posts detailing the download.

    Cheers,
    Mark
