This is exactly the same issue I am experiencing.
Which is a shame because this is just the plugin I have been waiting for.
I am sick of cable, there is never anything to watch but there is a ton of stuff on the web.

I blew away the two xml files for sites and groups.
Restarted and it worked fine.
so something is corrupting the xml file. Just not sure which one yet.
