Hi,

I've searched the forums (and google) for an answer to my question. I suspect that the answer is glaringly obvious so .... I connect my SD CRT tv to my PC via the s-video port on my ati card. Am I right in thinking that the ati hardware ignores the windows desktop refresh rate and outputs whatever tv standard i have selected in the catalyst control center? Which in my case is PAL-I for UK?

Cheers and thanks for looking.

It should do so, otherwise you might break your TV.

But: What are your settings? Is TV Primary Display? Then it should show the refresh rate (I guess 50Hz in your case). If you clone the display: Then it will just render whatever is required for TV (still 50 Hz) and keep your Monitor in its setting (at least this was how my cards reacted).

Thanks for replying, I can tell you that my TV is the primary display and my monitor is the secondary. I have enabled extended desktop mode so each display can have different setttings. I just wondered as the desktop refresh rate shown for my TV is 60hz and obviously PAL is 50hz. How does it handle NTSC material?

ps my monitor is only used when I need to tweak. it's on all the time ha ha.

thanks for the info - that's what I thought ... i couldn't really find a definitive answer (or any answer) on the ATI support pages.
