Re: AW: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder) Assume you are using default SAF setup --> FFDSHOW for DVDs? I can confirm this version plays a variety of DVDs. Been testing a bunch of different discs because I'm tweaking the filter settings for best deinterlacing, denoising, and such. Are you getting poor/stuttering playback or just a black screen? Is system hanging or can you press Stop key and get back to MePo screen? It sounds like you have tried a number of discs? Reason I ask is a couple of my DVDs have issues with menu navigation, where I just see a black screen, but if I hit Enter the movie starts to play. I'm not sure yet if this has to do with FFDSHOW or DVD Navigator. In this regard FFDSHOW is not perfect, but I can attest it has much better handling of DVD menus than the native MePo DVD codec. <Edit> I discovered when using FFDSHOW for DVDs, if the Blur & NR > Temporal smooth is engaged, DVD menus with static pictures will show just a black screen. (Sometimes the static menu will show a ghostly image from the previous moving-picture menu screen.) You can verify this by selecting the Only right half option on the Blur & NR options. It follows that this problem stems from the nature of temporal smoothing. This is a bummer because some noisy DVDs such as Chicago really benefit from temporal smoothing. I'll update again if I find a workaround for this -- maybe mapping a remote button to toggle the Blur & NR on/off.
