I was wondering, has anyone in the USA had any sucess using this card with satalite? we have DirectTV in our apartment complex. In the picture it talks about how you can use the satalite to get the "free" stations.. Could this really work? Would it recieve HDTV signals? This seems like a nicer option than an antenna since the apartment is all ready wired for it.. and hey... who wants to have bunny ears on their tv if they dont have to....

http://www.lifeview.com/usa/html/products/PCITV/lifetv_satellite.htm

In the "recomended Hardware" section there is a DVB-S card that is mentioned. It is PCI-Express though. Anyone know of a model that is not PCI Express? Any model that works with Satalite providers in the USA?

HDTV is a must for me.

Thanks for any help! :)

DirectTV uses a DSS system and is not compatable with regular DVB cards. You are out of luck there. Currently there is work being done on dishnetworks. They have several FTA channels and often times have free HBO and Showtime channels for short periods of time.

    That was fast :)

Hey! Thanks for the quick response :) So DirectTV... no go. Thats ok. I figured it was a long shot from what i have been reading. But, Dish Network seems to work with this thing is what you are saying?

Senario 1. I dont pay Dishtv anything... and i just use Dish Network hardware.
Would this supply me with the "free" channels? ABC, NBC, Etc?

Senario 2. I Pay Dishtv, and insert their "card" into this capture box.
Would this provide me to whatever content i have subscribed to?

Your help is very much appreciated :)

    Daniel :D
