Schedule EPG grab using powerscheduler?? (1 Viewer)

I'm using MP with the Powerscheduler plugin, so it will hibernate after 5 minutes of inactivity.

I use TVxb to grab my EPG. It works fine, but I have to do it manually once a week, which is pretty tiresome in the long run.

I have tried to setup windows scheduler to update it automatically, but I suspect that the Powerscheduler plugin is putting the PC into hibernation before TVxb can complete the update :-(

Any idea on how to go about this???

If your bios supports alarms to wake up you could manually set one up for your scheduled guide update.

I'm have the same problem running WebEPG.

What I've done with the Windows Task Scheduler is that it runs a batch which :

Kill MediaPortal.exe (for preventing PowerScheduler to standby the computer)
Run WebEPG (waiting for the grab to end)
Run MediaPortal.exe again

this 2 times a week at around 3:00 AM

But at the moment I have a problem with DirectX when doing this. I think MP ressources are not totally freed when using kill.exe :roll: so when it try to run it says it will use the software renderer :?.

Anyone is thinking at the moment to integrate this natively in MP ? What we need is disabling the PowerScheduler during the time WebEPG is running

Or is there another way for doing this.

Using an alarm in my bios doesn't change anything because MP is launched at boot.

Hi Guys,

you can try my "Watchdog" plugin. It is currently under development but the part that is relevant for you is working (at least on my system...). It allows to specify process names and hinders powerscheduler from shutting down/hibernating the system as long as these processes run. See this thread for details.

just like to say 'thanks' for this small, 'great' plugin. It fills a huge gap in the overall workflow.

IMHO, it's a "must have" for all WEBEPG users, so you should submit it to CVS and in the next release. I did not find it in the latest CVS.

Watchdog Problem

Hi all,
I love this little plugin, so I'm wondering if Bart M. still maintains it ...

With R0.2.0.3 I have a little problem with this plugin: the watchdog is doing its job perfectly - in my case supervise WEBEPG - as long as I don't enter one menue in MP ( which DISsables powerscheduler ) and reenter main scren again ( which ENables powerscheduler again).

Since then the watchdog does not do it job any more. No more supervising, nothing in the logs, resulting in the PC to hibernate without the EPG to finish.

Sure I can run the WEBEPG at night when nobody works with the PC, but that's not the intention of the watchdog, I guess.

Any help is appreciated !

thanks for your feedback. I did a clean install of R0.2.0.3 recently and will try to figure out what is wrong with my plugin. Hope to find the time to do this in the next week ...

Currently I do not know what is wrong, but I think that bavarian did some changes to the powerscheduler plugin and I'll have to analyse what is different now.

I'll keep you informed. If the plugin is running reliably w/ 0.2.0.3, I'll upload it to the download section of mediaportals home page.
