With the latest SVN i've changed the way the Music DB can be reorganised.

    1. When run from Configuration, everything stays the same as always.

    2. When run from inside MP. Settings -> Music
It is run in background. So you can watch TV, listen to Music, etc.
A Notification window pops up for 8 seconds, when reorg is finished.

    3. The Process Plugin "MusicDB Reorg" allows scheduling of the Music DB Reorg.
It'll wake up the PC for the reorg and send it to standby when finished.

Even when you don't want automatic reorganisation, you should enable the Music DB Reorg plugin and uncheck all the days.

The reason for that is, that this plugin also prevents PowerScheduler from bringing down MP, while the manual reorg, started with method 2 from above, is running.

Does the MusicDB Reorg support the folowing:

retagging ID3-tags so that the old tags in the DB get removed?

When I use the DB view I sometimes see that Mp3's are not tagged correctly. So I retag them outside MP with tag&rename but the DB gets updated which is nice but the old tags are still there.

Is there a way to get MP to update the tags and remove the old ones?

    yes, that's done.
Rebuilding the Database from shares, always updates the tags.
So you should see your new/updated tags.

    I have 1 more question

I have a large lan with >200 users. I like to add a few shares to browse music. These files are mostly not tagged correctly

I also have my own music collection which is tagged correctly

Now the music DB scans all shares in the MP music section. Could it be possible to add to the DB watcher only specific folders to watch, so that one can have a different music DB in relation to the music shares?

In other words, I would like the Music DB watcher to behave independently of the music shares I like to browse :)

    Thx

hmm, not out of the box. it scans the shares and monitors them.
i think about a configuration option.

suggest renaming "MusicDB Reorg" as "Rescan Music Shares" in english releases. Took me some searching to figure out what the plugin does!

I've got exactly the same need... With last versions of MP, you can select which shares to scan (manually, in Config)... but MusicShareWatcher (and I supose MusicDB Reorg also) scans every share... :(

@hwahrmann, did you do any step in this direction?

    Thank you.

    Same request here :)
So I could finally add a share for my non-tagged files again :D
