Sorry I am no miracle worker. Yes the default user "sa" is normal. With the current RC4 version I have not experienced the issues that you have. Are you installing a single seat? i.e. TV Server and Client on same PC. It installed smooth as butter on my system. The un-install is better than it used to be too. I am using XP Media Center Edition so I don't know if that makes a difference. From the forum I have read a lot of people use XP Pro without any major issues. Fragmentation is an OS level issue and defrag is part of standard maintenance like an oil change on a car. Cleaning up temp files is another good idea. I accomplish both by re-installing my PC (back up your data first!). XP tends towards chaos over time. So it is a constant battle to keep it running optimally. HDD imaging software is a help. IMHO the MediaPortal Application is currently for tweekers. Down the road it will become stable enough to be a solid application. It is not there yet and I would classify it as beta software. It might be better to wait 6 months and try it out again. I can say that when it works it is the best HTPC application out there today. Giving the user complete control. For free software it is very impressive. Documentation is lacking and your suggestion for a download/printable install guide is a good one. I think a lack of good documentation is a big frustration for new users.
