Re: Schedules Direct US/Canadian/Mexico EPG Plugin (Updated January 2010) I just downloaded 1.0.2 a few days ago (deliberately chose "stable" version over the presumably potentially riskier RC1). It seems to me that during installation, I was given the option to install just MediaPortal or the optional TVE3 TV service as well. I distinctly recall choosing to include the TVE3 option because it specified that it was essential for viewing HD content. It appears to me that it is also required if one wants a server/client setup. While I intend to enjoy TV throughout my network, I can accomplish this w/o need of a server/client installation as I am using a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun network tuner. Because I do not presently intend to establish one PC as an always-on Media Portal server, I figure I can simply use MCE 2005 on another computer and perhaps another stand-alone Media Portal installation on a third computer. I am not concerned about doing much sharing of recorded contents among computers. Perhaps I'd be wise to uninstall version 1.0.2 and instead install 1.1.0 RC1. My reluctance is that there always seems to be trade offs when choosing the latest beta or release candidates, apart from the potenial bugs. Documentation, for example, often lags behind software releases which results in confusion when trying to figure out what the devil is going on. That said, I had one hell of a time simply figuring out what I needed to right click just in order to perform a channel scan - I looked high and low in the TVE configuration utility, the MP config utility, and in the MP program itself, before I happened to find it hiding within a right-click menu in TVE config. I never did discover any clear discussion of this in any of the numerous wikis, manuals, user guides, forums, etc. The program looks promising, but after giving up on GB-PVR after literally weeks without success (despite many generous and well-intentioned replys in the various forums I consulted), I was hoping Media Portal might involve a less jagged learning curve. With "only" two days invested, perhaps I'll get over the hump soon and be another grateful devotee.
