I start MediaPortal, Click on the TV icon, click on TV Guide and the screen says "no data available"

I start MediaPortal TV server configuration, I click on DVB EPG, I leave the default settings checked. I assume somehow this will get the TV schedule. Apparently something is wrong. I am unsure of what to do now.

I am assuming no information about TV programs has been downloaded. I am now totally confused as to what to do now.

How do I get the TV schedule?

OK mate see this video here
at 7:10 onwards, I had the same problem as you, I copied what this guy did...initially I still had no listings what so ever, but if I clicked on a channel and watched it the EPG guide started to kick in, if some channels do show up the EPG then click on them and watch them for five minutes and that should sort the epg out for that channel

I have tried all your suggestions. Still the TV Guide refuses to work. How can I tell if this problem is caused by the TV card or Media Portal?

In the US, EPG info is only available via an antenna, in the vast majority of cases. (Very few cable companies retransmit this info.) This mean you must use one of the other methods in the wiki. I chose mc2xml. The wiki for that also includes a link to mc2xml's site which has more info on setup for MP.

The big hassle is getting the guide's channels mapped to your received channels -- it takes quite a while, depending on how many channels you have.
