Okay, lets hope I get more responses to this post, than my last post got.

Are scrambled Channels red or green?

I ask because all the green channels are scrambled with Unknown 673250-30 (or some such), and the red ones are the ones that I can actually watch. Those are the Clear QAM channels. This is on a fresh 1.1.2 install

It seems backwards to me

Yeas there's definately something wrong, normally scrambled channels are red and fta (free to air) channels are green...

US cable? The QAM tuning is definitely messed up for this. For me, a few channels show up red on scan, these are the channels that seem to be sending channel info such as name etc and they are not scrambled. All the rest of the channels are green and may or may not be scrambled, I had to check manually to see if they were available or not

I'm in the US on Charter Cable and my digital scans only produce green channel results (QAM scan). It seems that Media Portal has a difficult time telling when scanning QAM signals if they are scrambled or not. I also get some channels that have no audio/video or are not able to start graph. I have had to go trough about 300+ channels to find the 22 Clear QAM signals. Also the uncheck/delete scrambled button does not work on QAM channels. My guess is that this works better when scanning DVB-S, DVB-T signals. If I am wrong or someone knows how to get this to work in the US for QAM channels please let us all know. Thanks

Could you produce the logs of a channelscan? Perhaps that could help identifying the problem.

The problem is mostly that there is not developer which has access to a QAM / ATSC network.

And btw: There is a button to check all channels whether they work or not.

Another question: Is it always exactly the opposite of what it should be? If that is the case i have possibly found the culprit.

For me, any channel that is broadcasting its ID gets set to red 'scrambled'. There are several channels that are not scrambled that are set to green 'unscrambled', all of these don't broadcast their ID and so show up as unknown___. Then their are hundreds of other channels that show up as green 'unscrambled' which are actually scrambled channels. So its not a simple flip of scrambled being labeled unscrambled and vice versa.

At least all the channels that broadcast their ID seem to be reversed. I will make a mantis tomorrow and create a patch to fix it. Hopefully it will end up in 1.2.0 beta 1 then.

Edit: It is not that i am "just going to inverse something" btw. I found the actual bug where the "may be scrambled" signal is interpreted as FTA.

Thanks for looking into this riksmith. I realize that most people who use MP are outside of the United States so it makes sense that this little error has not been addressed until now. Thanks for addressing it.
