Screen ratios give black picture except for 'original ratio' (1 Viewer)

I have a problem, when I first start MP and play any video (recorded TV, divx etc.) I get a black screen. If I stop the video and then play it again i get the picture!

After some fiddling I noticed that I can change the ratio whilst I have the black screen, if I return the ratio to 'original' I get the picture, then scrolling through all the other ratios will give me a black screen untill I go back to 'original'.

Gotta be down to the GPU but I can't figure out what? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Can anyone suggest any help with this, its related to using fullscreen video as the preview windows it works and if I turn off exclusive directx mode then fullscreen works ok (I just get tearing).

I think its something to do the Nvidia config.

Hi,
If you haven't applyed a SVN, you should try that. There was some problem with early 0.2RC3 version & lokalize, contra PixelRatio.

You can also set the Pixel Ratio Adjustment to 1.

Hi thax for the response, I just updated to the latest svn, now its worse lol, before on the second play of a video it would work now it doesn't at all. So maybe it is related to MP as thats all that I changed this time.

I don't understand what you mean about the pixel ration could you explain that a little more please.

Hi,
Open MP -> Settings -> Screen Calib. -> Screen Calib. In there you can calibrate your screen & Pixel Ratio.

If you haven't been in there, then it is default set to 1.
Try some other codec's to se if not post your mp.log to http://mp.pastebin.com/ & the link back here.

I had a look in the screen calib and when I changed the ratio to 0.99 it worked, but then on restart it didn't and changing the ration again didn'r make any difference.

I also tried Mpeg, Dscaler and Cyberlink codecs but no diference.

please try deleting the calibrationXxX.xml in your MediaPortal directory.

Hi,

If nothing helps try to use the skin BlueTwo & lower your screen resolution to 800x600 & see if that helps.

Hi guys thanks for your help with this.

I tried deleting the calibration files bu no diference.

But I found a workaround which works, heres what I do.
1. Open MP
2. Play a video (black fullscreen picture)
3. Stop the video
4. Go into Screen Calib and change the ratio to 0.99
5. Play the video again and everything is fine!

So far that works every time!, funny thing is though it doesn't seem to save the change I make in screen calib as next time I restart MP I the ratio is set to 1.00

I think the problem occurs only when MP starts in fullscreen mode!

I cant view TV in fullscreen when MP starts in fullscreen. (MPConfig General Tab => Start MediaPortal in full screen mode)

I start MP in the Window Mode, maximize it to fullscreen and start the TV and go to TV fullscreen => it works in fullscreen.

MP start in full screen mode and the wrong display resolution is set with load calib1036x780.xml

The problem is the same => Start Mediaportal in fullscreen mode
But no TV in fullscreen mode possible !
I cant use full screen tv first time TV is started => wrong TV fullscreen resolution is set for first time


Then i hit EXIT => STOP => TV is off => the screen appears black and reset the display resolution
After that i start TV and the fullscreen woks with the right display resolution
