Hi, im having the problem of the screen going black after 20 mins of not touching the remote or mouse when watching a dvd or video in mediaportal. Ive set the power management options in vista to never but it still does it. What do i need to do to stop it doing this? Im running vista home premium, mediaportal and streamedmp.

Thanks

Does mediaportal do the same thing when idle for 20min? Do you have the screensaver on in mediaportal?

I havent tried just leaving mediaportal on the menu screens for 20 mins yet so im ot sure. The screensaver is set to off in mediaportal.

Maybe i should turn the power saving back on but set it for 3 or more hours?

Thats odd vista shouldnt turn the monitors off while playing video, that would work but its really a workaround, would be nice to find out what actually is causing it. Maybe someone has had this problem and will chime in.

Hmm, thought id found it in the advanced options of power management. Turning the screen off was still set to 20 mins even tho the main settings were on never. I changed that but it hasn't seemed to have any effect. If i go back into the settings they've changed themselves to 300 mins, so still shouldn't be doing it, but it does.

With the amount of problems im getting from vista, including the latest one, a keyboard that doesn't respond to anything i do, but is typing away merrily by itself! Audio not working every time, plugin issues, etc, etc. I think i may just upgrade to windows 7 and burn vista on a large bonfire!

I do indeed have ATI, its a 4550. I will try turning that off, thanks!

I've had a look for the ati hotkey service but it's not there. Infact nothing from ati is running in services. I've tried setting everything to turn off after 5 hours, I'll see if that solves the problem for now at least.

    And that didn't do it....

It turned out to be the ASUS power management program, so its now solved. Thanks for the help.
