    Hi,

I noticed that the screensaver is not activated when a Video or TV picture is paused like it is when MP is idle. Instead the picture remains visible for ever. Is this the standard behavior?

It would be better if the "paused" mode was interpreted as idle to allow MP to switch off the screen.

    Regards, HTPC

I agree. I have a Plasma TV (Panasonic TH-50PZ800A) and I'm concerned about burn-in so I stop videos instead of pausing them in order to use the screensaver.

Even I as a LCD-TV with no burn-effect votes for the described feature.
However, it should be optional in configuration (e.g. you should be able to "activate screensaver also on video playback..."

Addiontally, I would prefer a nicer screensaver, not just a black screen.
Why not program a plugin that can utilize any installed windows screensaver?
That why one would be able to even use a 3D aquarium as a screensaver (wouldn't that be cool?)...

Even a dimmer type screensaver where you can set the percentage of dimness would do.

Add another vote to the pool. I have a wife addicted to the pause button and a 5K pioneer plasma...not good bedfellows. A screen saver (and not just a black screen) would be awesome!!

+1 from me. Use the Fritzbox Callmonitor. If someone calls, the video is paused. A screensaver that kicks in after some minutes would be great. Wife loves to telephone...

    Another vote form me.

Just using the windows screensaver would be perfectly suitable. My entire HTPC using Meedio, ZoomPlayer, Winamp and MediaPortal allows the windows screensaver to kick in after 1 minute of inactivity or pause and allows my server to monitor for the screensaver and shutdown when idle for over 30 minutes.

Currently pausing MP prevents this from occuring.

Impossible to use Windows own screen saver with XP at least. We need to have exclusive mode for the video playback and that means exclusive, no other software is able to

    Of course we could:

    1) stop the exclusive mode
    2) allow Windows screen saver to kick in
    3) wait user activity
    4) "steal" the GPU access by forcing exclusive mode

At this point MP GUI engine needs to be completely reset and video graph etc. needs to be rebuild...

So in short, it wont happen at least that we would allow using Windows own screen saver, for implementing the other (internal) way we are open for good patches.

If all users would be on Vista or Windows 7, then the issue would be quite different and we could allow users to use Windows screen saver :p
