Thank you immensely for this free MediaPortal package!
I have successfully installed the package on 2 other PCs without problems, and it's working. (Not yet using the LAN server)
But on this 3rd PC, there was a snag, possibly caused by this PC falling just a tad short of the complete system requirements set. But the error message I got seemed totally off point. I would have liked to include the full set of logs and other diagnostics provided by the MP Watchdog, but that program ALSO crashed with some script error, when it was unable to open the file in MP's subfolder under "Application Data" named "MediaPortal.xml". And sure enough, there is no such file by that name present in the cited subfolder. So I cannot supply that stuff, sorry. [Edit: I'd be happy to collect and attach specific log files and readouts, as needed]
I WAS able to run the TV Server Config without a snag, and even completed a channel scan with good results.
I can launch MP Config, but when I hit the "OK" button to close it, I get some kind of scripting error, an unhandled exception for an object reference that fails to match an instance of that object. See attached file for the full error details.
Any help appreciated. [Edit: it's definitely not a problem with the ATI Wonder TV card I don't think, because I have one of those working fine through MediaPortal on another PC.]
TV Server Config NEVER asked me for the password. I wonder about that. That occurred on one of my other installs as well, but when I returned to relaunch Server Config later (on that other PC), it did ask for the password. 'Not sure if this pertains.
This current PC falls a tad short of the requirements by being too slow (1.6 GHz)and by having only a nVidia Geforce FX-5200 graphics card. [Late edit: No, apparently now the Geforce FX 5200 is considered sufficient. You changed that I think, as I recall the MP Requirements page specifying Geforce 6 Series or higher last time I read it!]
Here's some more detail. When I get into MP Config, the TV server name is missing, though it appeared OK in the TV Server Config. Also (maybe because of my systems' shortcomings), the H-264 decoder entry is missing, ie. blank. [Late edit: well I notice that parameter is likewise blank/missing on one of my other (successful) PC installs of MP, so I guess that isn't so relevant.]
Thank you.
