Hi, My HTPC is working good but there are a couple of things I haven't figured out:

1. While installing the TV3 server it didn't recognize my second SkyStar2 card, but Windows Vista doesn't show any hardware conflict. I'm sure my second card works because I tried it with ProgDVB.

2. I just don't know how to setup my remote with MP, I just installed WinLIRC server and added my remote's config file and it's running just ok (Turns green when buton pressed!) , but I don't know what's next, could someone just write a kind of short "howto" or just point me to any information about setting up my remote.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, briefly for issue 1, use the bda driver from the technisat website for the second card, and it will be recognised by MP, for issue 2, i find best results with girder which will take the commands from winlirc and convert them into key commands recognised by MP.

Cheers m

I'll try bda drivers at home.

For issue 2, if I use girder then I shouldn't configure anything on MP remote setup section, am I right? (If I understand girder "maps" winlirc commands into "keystrokes", so remote usage is the same as using keyboard "hotkeys")

Thanks m8 4 ur help!

Hi again, your absolutely correct on the second point, i had a play for around an hour on my mates client PC and it was fairly easy to setup. Cant rememebr exactly all the ins and outs of it but the help tutorials by girder were very useful in getting my head around how it was to be configured.

I left one technisat card with the original drivers and use the bda on the other, it makes it very easy to see what card is doing what and i had a few standby issues with using BDA alone.

Let us know how you get on

Cheers m

Ur reply was extremely useful, I've got my two ss2 (BDA driver for both cards) working ok over a fresh winxp install with the latest MP and TVE3 SVN. (I also tried vista business but it was very unstable, I guess it's because Microsoft releasing to consumers a -Beta, buggy- crap as It was xp at the beginning without sp)

I know it's not to be posted here but it's working ok even with the MDAPI stuff (A real pain getting to work).

Any than that, EPG is also working (TVxb generated), my girder's setup is far from perfection but I'll try to improve it.

Thank you again,

Hi there, thanks for letting me know how you got on, i use XP Pro SP2 as well, it makes for one less variable we have to worry about! I'll post up soon my girder configuration file and you can compare it to your own, maybe between the pair of us we can get an even better setup,

cheers m
