When running a simple test of 2 program recording on the manual panel of the TVServer3 I found that the second recording is zero bytes in length.

To reproduce:

1) From Manual Control Panel start timeshifting on channel 1 (BBC1), click record
2) Select channel 2 (BBC2) from dropdown, start timeshifting, click record
3) Wait a couple of minutes, select channel 1 (BBC1), stop recording, stop timeshifting
4) Select channel 2 (BBC2), stop recording, stop timeshifting.

Both recordings create files in the correct recordings folder, the second recording is always zero bytes.

In the tsWriter.Log files there are a great many lines:

Spaced out on soil

Not sure if this is me or due to much fiddling with the system yesterday, but today after installing latest tvserver svn I can confirm that this no longer happens on my configuration.

johnps: I am resurrecting this thread, but I have read your comments in the more up to date threads others have started.

I get the same problem on an intermittent basis. e.g. left MP overnight recording three shows. The first failed with the Fullbuffer error in the log, the second refused to open the file to write to it and the third worked fine. No changes to config inbetween - running unattended. Will gather up logs and post at some stage in bugs forum. BTW I think the second failure is unrelated and was because MP tried to make a windows file name including "..." hence:

However, I've had a look at your logs and I see you were recording in .mpg format. I was too, but on my recent debug test I switched to .ts format. It then started working OK with no Fullbuffer errors. That was the only change I made. Have you tried that?

Yes I did try recording in .ts for a while and I can report that during those tests I never had a failed recording.

Recently I've added more dvb-t cards to the server (now have 4 dvb cards and 1 analog) and switched back to .mpg format. This has been very reliable but, occasionally I get 0 bytes recordings... not when I'd expect them though.

Sunday for example, tvserver recorded 4 programs and simulaniously served live tv to 3 clients (2 laptops over wireless) - every recording worked, no stutter or problema on clients.

Last night, left unattended with no clients connected it created a 0 bytes Eastenders - Mrs Johnps wasn't very impressed. No soup for her.

In my original report I could reproduce the bug by starting manual recordings in the tvserver control panel - start several recordings going and one or more will be zero bytes.

I will try this test later from home, it's a bit slow over RDP when all the tuners are running. I'll try both .ts and .mpg format.
