Hi, I am running media portal on a laptop, or actually on a coffee table :p http://tinyurl.com/2z6d2q
When I was first testing media portal I remeber connecting the laptop to the TV and I THINK that I cloned the screen and then media portal showed up on the TV. When you looked at media portal on the TV the mouse was hidden - you could only see the mouse on the laptop. Is this possible or am I imagining it? (I cant seem to do it again)

Thanks in advance.

Adam

Configuration, General. Fourth checkbox down is "autohide mouse cursor in fullscreen mode when idle". That means 1) only works when MP is in fullscreen mode, not windowed, and 2) after not moving the cursor for a few seconds it will disappear.

Shouldn't have anything to do with cloned or not cloned displays. Cloned means it just displays the same thing on both screens. If you set it up as an extended display, then the General tab has a "screen" dropdown at the very bottom so MP could be only on the TV, for example.

By the way: VERY cool laptop mounting in the coffee table, though I don't expect it's terribly comfortable to watch for long!

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I remember the cursor not appearing AT ALL on the TV but I may be wrong.
Is it possible to extend the desktop and have media portal displaying on both screens at once?

Haha, no not very comfortable hence a wireless transmitter to diplay MP on the TV ;)

Thanks again

I don't believe so. The ability to select which display is even new with 0.2.3. Previously MP would work only on display number 1. I would think watching a movie split across screens would be kinda irritating, anyway. :D

you can display on both screens at once, but only with the clone option in windows and this doesn't work too well, since both screens need the same resolution.
I think you are better to use the screen selector in MP. it works really well. Leave the coffee table screen for general windows and display the screen on tv only.

    Nice looking set up too.
