Hi there,

I have a little problem. The skip time during the timeshift buffer is sometimes wrong.

For example i will skip back 30 seconds, MP jumps forward some minutes.
Or if i try to jump 3 minutes forward, MP jumps only some seconds forward.

In the logfiles you can see a recording from 20:10 to 22:20 with a lot of seeking.
inside the timeshift buffer. (The recorded file was 0 Bytes long, but this is another problem)

A few of us have an issue that I think is the same thing as described here. We call it the "skipping problem" and as described when trying to go forward or back in the timeshift buffer you can end up in unexpected places in the buffer. Basically making the use of the timeshift buffer impossible.

What I think is happening is the durations of the recordings in MP are not accurate (for us only!). Also, when you look at the times shown on screen for the timeshift buffer you will see the wrong time displayed.

Stop me if you think I'm wrong... but...

When you record programs a similar effect happens in that the duration reported is very much larger than the actual program. Going forward or back will not advance the requested distance but some ratio of the actual length of the program. (i.e. skip 1 minute only skips 6 seonds if the duration is reported as 10 times longer than the real duration). If you play the recording in WMP it also plays OK, but reports the same silly duration.

For timeshifting I think it gets further confused by the various [cyclic nature of] files involved etc... (somehow??)

However (and I think this is a big clue to where the problem is) when you compress the recording, the problem goes away. The duration of the program is accurate and the forward/back buttons skip the correct durations.

From reading these forums (and I'm a newbie so thats all I know) it appears that MP adds a wrapper to the stream from the TV card. All compress does is to remove it and revert to the original stream. It doesn't actually change the data. So if the data is correct after a compress - the problem must be in the wrapper?

This thread here is where I had discussed it: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=11675

I've tried using different codecs in MP and they are all the same.

If I can be of any help - let me know what you need (only be prepared for some dumb questions from me :)

If you think I've hijacked your bug report, let me know and I'll raise a different one ;) but I think our issues are the same thing?

If it helps my system is as follows:
