So its mostly done, the new server is up and running *knockonwood*.
The change was necessary cause the hoster is about to shut down all 'older' P4 and Xeon webservers...too much power consumption. Instead of paying much more for the old one I decided to get a brand new.
Its a
E6600 Dualcore (2*2,4Ghz)
ASUS P5b-VM
4096MB DDR2-RAM
2*300GB SATA2
2*80GB SATA1 for backups
3ware SATA2 Raidcontroller
Besides the new hardware theres also a big software change. Before we used PHP4/MYSQL4.0/Apache2.0-prefork/VHCS, now its
PHP4+PHP5 switchable/MYSQL5/Apache2.2-worker/mod_fastcgi/APC-cache/ISPCP.
