I use VLC to play my MP3s. Adding an address of an FTP server will allow it to play what it downloads. MP3s are made for streaming though, AVIs not so much. >) The FTP server I use is the Filezilla server, but I'm considering others to see if I can't simulate folders under a virtual root system. For instance adding folders to the server, but not setting any particular one as the home directory. Currently Filezilla requires one of the added directories to be chosen as the home or root folder, and that's a problem when I'm trying to host directories in my torrent folders. Rather than copying them elsewhere (space hogging) or moving them (then the torrents won't seed properly). And since I can't make links like I can in linux which would totally solve the problem, I'm stuck looking for something else. Indeed they do. I've done this file sharing before at my friend's house with his network and his computers. But that's his setup, not mine, so... Yeah. I'll try the New Share button though and see if it's any different. I don't believe in firewalls on computers. Leave that for the routers. Windows firewall is also a PitA so it's disabled as one of my first adjustments to any computer I own. Addendum: So I got home and tried to view stuff I had downloaded earlier, and I got "Remote File \ File is being downloaded" Now, this had downloaded, but it seems like I had to restart MP or something. Addendum 2: Confirmed, restarting MP updated the status of the stuff I had downloaded. For some reason it doesn't want to update that while MP is active. I'm sure I'm just not doing something though.
