Setting Up QAM (1 Viewer)

Hello folks, I am a new user and am running into a setup problem with my Digital Tuners.

I have the Hauppauge HVR-2250 and have all the analog channels setup on both my analog tuners. I have the hybrid cards setup so my 1 ATSC and 3 Analog are together and my 2 ATSC and 4 Analog are together.

When I try to scan for QAM channels it returns no results. It just does a long scan and after it completes says no new channels found.

I am wondering if I am doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am located in the US and have Comcast if that helps. Thank you in advanced.

Are you specifying in the config menu what type of QAM to scan for? The default option did not return any results for me (also Comcast in the US), but the option that is "Standard QAM" or "QAM Standard" or something like that finds plenty of stations.

For the digital ClearQAM the bottom 3 of the 5 cable scan types worked for me. I use ComCast basic.
The top 2 (is it HC3+ and HC3?) did not work for me.
Yes it takes a while but I just did something else whilst it did each scan.

Yep for Comcast I used QAM Standard and found plenty of channels. Unfortunately I then had to figure out which ones were unencrypted and what they actually were.

Yeah, that's a good point. You will have to manually pick through them because many won't work at all and many others won't have recognizable names. After I've figured out what is what, I usually go to the configuration window and manually delete the scrambled channels then rename the other ones to names that can retrieve info from SchedulesDirect or at least names that I can recognize in the EPG.

Thank you very much kind sirs. It worked! I went home and scanned "Standard QAM" and got all the free channels. Thanks again.

The only problem I am having now is that I can't seem to get Schedules Direct working. I downloaded the plugin and extracted it to the plugins folder in Team Media Portal. It shows up on TV Server Config, however, no channels show up when I load MP.

This is probably an easy fix, but I can't quite figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Do you have an account set-up with a line up that includes your clear-QAM channels. This is what I did. After tuning in my clear QAM channels I went through and figured out what they were and removed the encrypted ones. I then went to the schedules direct webpage and made a new line-up and added all the new channels I had found. I then went into mediaportal and let the guide populate. I then went to the TV server channel configuration, and renamed my tuned channels to the guide added channel. ie my channel list would have unknownXXXXX mapped to my QAM card which I know is discovery HD, and I would also have a 233 DSCHD which was not mapped to any card. I then renamed unkownXXXXX to 233 DSCHD and deleted the original channel 233 DSCHD. After booting mediaportal, after a while the guide populated with the correct data. I may have had to set the SD plugin in a particular way and had it rescan on reload.

Thanks for the help. I got SD reading my analog, but it doesn't seem to load any HD channels. Any reason behind this? I setup the lineup to include the 5 over-the-air HD channels that I am receiving. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tnx in advance.:D

The SD plugin will download the guide data even if the channel isn't mapped to a card, so you should have something. do the HD channels show up in the guide at all? You may want to try naming them from "235 DSCHD" etc to just DSCHD and try and let the SD plug-in match the channel without the channel number. I will double check my SD plugin settings to see what I have enabled.
