When I double-click SetupTV.exe the first time, I get the sql setup box, that test clears and I save it. I then get the "TVServer service not started..." message and I click "Yes" to start that.

Then nothing. Unless, that is, I check the Task Manager, then I see DW20.exe pop up and eventually spike up to 97MB Mem Usage & 141MB VM Size, before dropping off and going away. Setuptv remains resident in the Task Manager.

I have followed the SQL instructions in the Wiki, I've opened the appropriate ports for UDP and TCP on ZoneAlarm, & I have made sure to start the SQL Service Browser. I can not, however, manually start the TVService service. I get an Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." message.

I have uninstalled, deleted & purged & registry-cleaned, and reinstalled and have not had any improvement.

Please advise.

I meant to note that, on one of my first attempts at running setuptv.exe, I was able to get to the first screen where you are to select your video card. It was then I realized I'd forgotten to install the drivers for the PVR-250. I did that and everything pretty much locked up, so I did a full uninstall of MP & SQL, and once I re-installed everything, I am now facing the Dr. Watson (DW20) error reporting (though I have no Office installed on this machine!)

One of my last un-/re-install cycles I noticed that SQL threw a warning regarding system specifications and when I checked the read-me for SQL, it mentioned ISS, so I enabled that. No change.

I'm tempted to just blow away the entire drive, format and start over, but I'd really like to hear if anyone has any suggestions.

If it matters: when I installed the tvengine, it never dropped an icon on the desktop. I had to pull up the navigate to the Team Media Portal folder to actually execute the setupTV.exe.

Dr. Watson is not related to Office; its a Windows error reporting component.

Anyway, which database engine are you using? Check the logs in there to see if any errors occurred during the setup process. Also, do you have any log files at c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\mediaportal tv server\logs?

The next few lines of the log file are as below.

21/02/2007 9:35:15 PM Controller: server running on homeserver
21/02/2007 9:35:15 PM Controller: setup hybrid cards
21/02/2007 9:35:16 PM Controller: setup streaming
21/02/2007 9:35:18 PM Scheduler: started
21/02/2007 9:35:20 PM Scheduler: loaded 0 schedules
21/02/2007 9:35:20 PM plugin: ConflictsManager started
21/02/2007 9:35:20 PM ServerBlaster.Start: Starting
21/02/2007 9:35:20 PM ServerBlaster.LoadRemoteCodes: Could not find file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MediaPortal TV Server\ServerBlaster.dat'.
21/02/2007 9:35:20 PM ServerBlaster.Start: Started
21/02/2007 9:35:20 PM plugin: xmltv started

It seems like there's something wrong with the streaming setup. Try disabling the firewall and see if that helps (not a permanent solution of course).

Has anyone found what is causing this (running vista x86), my best solution is I ghosted a good working version of my MP partition and instead of reinstalling windows I just reghost the drive.

Only started to happen about 3 weeks ago after installing a new SVN & IR server suite (i don't know which one caused the problem) now not all the time but most times I install a new SVN this happens but when I reghost to the good version I reinstall the new SVN and all is good.

Further to the original post just before SetupTV does eventually appear it stops the TVservice. However MP & TV3 work ok it seems to be just getting into SetupTV.
