ok, first off - you guys totally rocked my last few days - i spend most of the time just to figure out some few of all these nifty features, MP is THE program i looked for over the past few years, and its like just perfectly written for what i need ...

i just still have some problems.

1) when resizing or minizing the window or going fullscreen during playback, tv picture does not show up again until i restart MP. i still hear the sound, but the playback window hangs.

2) my language and various other settings randomly seem to change or reset to default sometimes.

3) when closing the configuration window with clicking on ok, it asks me to restart MP to apply the changes. i want to apply them, so i click yes - after that the MP process still remains in taskmanager (first time i waited for like 10 minutes before i killed the process), the systray icon is gone tho. when i kill/restart the process, the settings are applied. when i click no in the dialog, the setings are lost after closing/restarting MP.

4) when MP is started and i want to restart my system, MP blocks the shutdown, i have to close MP manually and then press restart again.

5) tv-playback sometimes appears laggy after longer playback - its all fine for like 1-2 hours, then suddenly sound drops out for a moment, sometimes along with video jittering. then it repeats, the sound lags more and more frequently until the sound finally completely disappears. usually i can fix it with just restarting MP, but i know it will come back, sometimes already after few minutes.

when i look at taskmanager (i use the alternative from sysinternals) i see no fancy process activity, it all appears normal.

now i found out that it must be some software i have installed, i just booted in diagostic mode (msconfig) and disabled all autostart entries and non-microsoft services. the result is a stunning video and audio quality for several hours now. i would like to know if any programs might cause problems with MP, what should i look for? Except Codec Packs.

(maybe) to be continued...

    Hi,

    1) Known issue / bug. Just stop playback before you do resizing / minimizing....

    2) Very strange, haven't seen this yet. Do you have an antivirus installed (see also 5)

    3) Hmm. Did you use OFDB lookup before doing the changes? OFDB changed their sitelayout some time ago, leading MP to run into an endless loop. MP therefore does not end properly. You can download a fixed dll for MP 0.2.2.0:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=14849

    4) Known issue, if you have activated "Minimize to system tray on exit"

    5) Could be an antivirus program...

    HTH,
    Flip.

    2) i am using windows defender and avira antivir. how would that effect my settings in MP being reset/changed ??

    3) i dont know what OFDB lookup is, but it happens always when i close the configuration window. even when i just opened the configuration and didnt change anything or clicked anywhere at all, it asks me to restart MP and it will go stuck when i click yes.

    5) see 2), i tried disabing all AV and the problem still keeps going on. when i disable any 3rd party service by hand, it seem to stop but i can't tell yet which service it is. indexing is always disabled. will do further tests.

    6) i found another one: since i installed MP, my keyboard input is randomly lagging like hell. i never thought that MP was the fault, and i couldnt find out what it was until it just happened again, and i accidently closed MP when i got mad about it and randomly hacked on my keyboard - instantly my keyboard worked fine again.

    Hi,

    2) Some antivirus programs prevent "illegal changes" of files. Maybe your antivirus thinks that the changes made by the MP-Configuration have to be blocked. But I now have the the feeling, it is could be another problem, because of what you are saying in point 3. :)

    3) Online Film Datenbank is the lookup for your videos. This could cause MP to stuck as process and not ending successfully. Stucking MP seems to be the main reason, of your problems. If its not closed properly and you change settings the mediaportal.xml might get damaged causing it to revert the settings. SO we have to find out why MP does not close correctly on your system.

Does it get always stuck? Just start it, close it and see if it is still shown as process. Please provide the logs of this action.

    6) Never heard that, sounds strange....

As diehard2 suggested, you could try a SVN release...

No 3 is a side effect of enabling the "Minimize to system tray on exit" option.

Basically the config program tries, but fails, to close MP and instead minimizes it to the tray...and somewhere along the line all the changes you make are lost.

The only work around is to close MP properly, i.e right click on the tray icon and exit the program, then run setup, then restart MP.

Far less than ideal, but there you go. The entire "Minimize to tray" functionality is very buggy, as I commented on here:

    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=9427

Unfortunately, I have bad reception at my current house, and therefore my use of MP has tailed off, and I never followed this up much.

    Anyway, hope that helps

    3) yes, i noticed that, when i opened the configuration, it told me it has to close MP to open the configuration. when i click yes there, it does minimize the MP window, but the process still remains in taskmanager - i thought "closing" did just mean "minimizing" there
since i disabled "minimizing on gui exit", this does not happen anymore, that problem is fixed :)

    2) maybe 3) did cause some trouble with my settings being reset as well - i will look at that.

    5) the problem still remains, i also noticed that the more laggy my sound is played, the more laggy my video playback appears too, at the worst point, its like a soundless slideshow :p.

when i wait a few minutes, sometimes the sound recovers but the lag remains until i either close MP or disable/enable tv. couldnt test that enough yet.

    6) well like i said, it does not happen always when i have MP open, but usually when i start MP, my keyboard input is highly unusable cuz i always type to fast and have to write like everything 2-3 times until its alright.

i also noticed another effect: when MP is open, and i press shift and try to select text to copy&paste with my mouse, i can't move my mouse until i release the shift key. the longer i press the shift key, the longer i can't move my mouse after i released it.

i would guess it has something to do with my remote settings, but i had no avail with playing around on their settings yet.

i really like this program, but these problems kind of put me off :(

but i dont like to give up like that :p i will try the latest build. is it just the .exe to be replaced? or do i install it over?

btw, i really want to thank you guys for your nice support, thats the best support i got with open source yet (most commercial support does suck compared to you guys :p)

    Hi,

Thank you very much FlipGer, the hotfix works great!
