I know of MPTRAYMOD, and it does work with Media Portal, however, when I press the green button on Vista, since there is also the pesky Media Center, I get the result of both Media Portal and Media Center showing up on my screen when I press it.

Is there a way to get rid of this problem, except, of course, switching back to XP?

Vista x64 users like myself are experiencing a problem with MPTrayMod not launching MP. Someone mentioned in a thread that recompiling it under x64 made it work but I don't have a compiler. If anyone can post a bin recompiled under x64 that would be great and I'm willing to test it.

Found an easy solution that works perfectly in Vista.
Warning! This disables VISTA MCE completely.

1. disabled all the MCE related services
2. go to msconfig to disable the ehtray.exe in the startup section

3. What I did next was to rename the "c:\windows\ehome" folder to something else such as "c:\windows\ehomebackup".

After the folder was renamed windows can't start MCE even if it wants to and the GREEN BUTTON an GUIDE, LIVE TV no longer start VISTA MCE.
Now I can use the MCE remote in MP as it was intended without the pesky VISTA media center.

(1 and 2 might not even be necessary)
Hope this works for you guys
