Using HW AVIVO on my X1900XT doesn't seem to always maximise the picture on my 1080P Plasma TV, despite the desktop being set at 1080x1920. UK Discovery channels always have enormous (30cm) borders around the picture, and DVD's have 2/3cm borders around them.

For this reason I use FFDShow as a post processor to scale the picture to 1080x1920 and zoom by x1. PowerDVD7 is my codec selected in MP. This looks great other than scrolling titles/credits.

I am aware that using FFDShow forces everything to SW decode, however what happens with the 'Adaptive' Deinterlacing setting I have in my ATI drivers? Does this change to software too? If not, what's the best way to turn Deinterlacing on? In FFDShow? or PowerDVD7?

You can change certain settings for video within PowerDVD\settings\video, but these require hw dxva turned off.

Try the DVD option, turn on cleartype for fullscreen, or words to that effect.
