    Hi all,
more a question to the devs, I guess.

I noticed in the log, that Powerscheduler hibernates the machine although the TVGUIDE.XML- import is currently running. From my simple understanding of databases, shutting down during an DB (SQL) -operation is highly risky and causes lots of problems ( e.g. 'commit' does fail).

I don't know if hibernating can freeze a DB- operation at a specific point and restore it exactly there. If so, then its no problem, if not, will the import be repeated completely ?

    Thanks for any comments.

    Regards
    /Gerd

Yes DB's do get corrupted and screw things up, most probably 15-20% of posts can be put down to some form of db error.
Anything set to run an update, do not leave MP in home screen with powerscheduler enabled, it's as simple as that.
And anything updating should not infringe on MP usage, if set for a "convenient time"

    Hi Paranoid,

    .

Guessed so, but this cannot be influenced from the users side.
e.g. I'm doing WEBEPG which lasts an unpredictable time and which is started at some nightime, where MP of course stays in homescreen.

I discovered the Watchdog plugin, which does a good job to prevent Powerscheduler from hibernating. But as soon as WEBEPG has finished, the TVGUIDE.XML import starts and at that point I cannot stop Powerscheduler . Instead the DB Import is just running when hibernating begins.

That's all. Perhaps I'll try to catch the attention of 'Bavarian' to convince him to disable PS during TVGUIDE.XML import. My programming skills in C# are not enough.

    Thanks
    /Gerd

Have webepg running as a scheduled task on saturday morning at 9.30 and to download 37 schedules for 14 days takes under 2 minutes and does not interfere with MP running.
Personally i would change the time you have WebEPG updating to one when you will have MP up and running.

That would be great, but you could also use the Watchdog plugin for this.
Maybe Watchdog should be part of the package (or, even better, integrated into the Powerscheduler plugin) with a default configuration for WebEPG, XMLTV and other grabbers?

can you give me a link/some info about watchdog? i haven't come across that one yet.
ideally i'd want to prevent suspending during tvguide import/webepg/commskip/etc... :p

Well, I'm using the Watchdog plugin, but I never really checked if it works with the latest MP versions.
Would be great if you could keep us informed, CHli. And could you make Watchdog a default plugin?
