So the thumbnail for Grandia 3 is assigned manually, or is it the "folder.jpg" that is in use?

No, the thumb is created automatically if "Auto create TV/video thumbs" is enabled in MP configuration. For more info see here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/submit-patches-mediaportal-tv-server-etc-325/auto-create-video-thumbs-60437/. It also works if you have set up a thumb manually with the same name as the video file.
