I'v been using Mediaplayer for a long time now and love it to bits, but in a recent upgrade from a A64 3000+ venice to the opteron 170, MyTV has had a hicup in terms that for 3 min it all looks fine, but then the sound slowly goes funny and disapears, then 30sec later, it starts to skip frames with the picture..

if i turn off the TV, then turn it back on it's fixed but for a short time, maybe 10sec, then the same thing..

I tried running in window mode and looked @ the taskmanager and the cpu is sitting on 15/16% so it's no CPU..

i then forced it to use only 1 processor from taskmanager and it started to work like normal..

I then tried the fusion HDTV software which is built for my card and it's works just fine, but it's just a crappy piece of software and i cant stand it..

I'm just wondering if i need to install mediaportal again or reinstall the fusion drivers..

i just hate doing this cos i finally have everything setup as i like it and hate doing it all again..

thanx in advance

Do you get the same behavior with other decoders, like the MediaPortal supplied MPV and MPA ones?

What happens if you remove all the overclocking, do things improve then.

Also see if there's 1 task that is running, that could be interfering with MP.

Know that this should not happen, but found it can, so worth a look.

There is a new Dvico driver available since you havn't posted which version of the driver your using.. I'm assuming that this may fix your issue:

    Current public driver version: 3.50.02

<< Changes in Rev 3.50.02 public version >>
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Fixed the problem which DVB-T Pro model didn't scan the channel.(Rev 1.1 board)

nope.. i tried the new fusion drivers and it hasn't made any difference :( ...

im using a program called "RunFirst" which forces mediaportal to use only 1 core and it seems to work fine like this..

i checked the logs and i cant tell if it's showing nothing out of the ordanany..

    ill keep messing around

well.. i finally have it figured out.. I've tried BETA bios upgrades, uninstalling/reinstalling all programs related and nothing worked until now..

    >here< is a link to tools for AMD dualcore.. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer tool did the trick and now i have MyTV working smoothly and nice..

Here's the run down about the tool
AMD Dual-Core Optimizer - The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized.

i hope this helps others if they have the same trouble as i had..

Is'nt life amazing, my X2 4200+ worked out of the box, and would not of even thought of that one.

I have heard of circumstances where the XP driver for the X2 processors does not work correctly, if you download the latest from the AMD website it can correct the problem
