Hi folks!

I was looking for an easy way to change skins fast with the remote or keyboard.

Why ?

My HTPC is connected to 2 display devices.

1) projector 16:9 - I mainly use this at night.
2) a puny 4:3 tv screen 19" - Used for casual TV.

Using the same skin for both screens is not good.
One skin is optimized for 16:9 hi-res. The other larger fonts 4:3 etc.
This is where the skinchanger plugin comes into action.

unrar the archive.
extract to "Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Plugins\Process"

goto configuration, plugins - find it and enable it.
It has no further settings.

Now go to remote mapping.
U can now map;

SKIN NEXT
SKIN PREVIOUS

The same goes for keyboard shortcuts.

It does what it says...it cycles through the skins that you currently have in ur skins folder
Either taking the next avail. skin or the previous one.

todo; maybe render some visual indication to the user with a msg like "changing skin to bla bla..plz wait".

The plugin needs mediaportal SVN vers. #15625
make sure u have this.

Also plugin sources are upped to SVN.

Fixed a problem when changing skin while video/tv is playing. This could lead to a lock up of mediaportal.
Fixed a refresh/update problem occurring on some screens. ex. on TV (tve3) fullscreen some GUI elements were not cleared when changing skin.

What's the advantage to just using settings/general via MediaPortal?

Simply b/c it's a hassle
2 many clicks.

You can quick-change the skin in any given context, simply by hitting a key on your remote.
Although there seems to be some situations where the screen needs a refresh.

Will dig into this.
