Sorry - should have updated this a while back...

The Chat Plugin is officially dead. I have updated maniac's Skype plugin, and added chat (amongst other things) to it.

What's the story?

Of the 888 people who've downloaded this, none have given me any feedback

Is this because

1) The installation is too horrible and nobody wants to be the one to tell me;

2) It works, but the interface is too horrible;

3) Nobody got it even close to working and couldn't be bothered telling me about the problems;

4) It just works

So - is there any interest? Should I (in order of importance, I think)

a) update it for 0.2.2.0 (and presumably a version for SVN's as well) - urgent if anybody's actually using it, otherwise just when (b) and (c) are done too);

b) See if I can streamline the installation to reduce the initial bleecchh;

c) Work on the interface itself e.g. Pop-up messages a la MSN Messenger plugin, etc

Anybody?

I feel for you, there is nothing as bad as not getting response on something you have put effort into. What is the difference between this and the original skype plug-in?

As far as I could tell, the original doesn't (or didn't then) do Chat - just Voice. My plugin does Chat, not Voice (like the MSN Messenger plugin, only not as slick (yet))

Of course, if Maniac's does Chat (now) then mine is presumably redundant...

Also, it shouldn't be too much work (relatively speaking, of course) to add other chat/messaging providers as requested...

I haven't tried you plugin yet, but I'm a keen user of Skype on my desktop PC so at some point I will try to install it on my MP PC.

I think it's kind of confusing with two Skype plugins. Maybe if you could add your chat version too the just voice version. The "old" skype plugin is kind of out-of-date (thread) since the new version include webcam support.

Nice work, looking forward too trying your plugin!
