    I'm experiencing a problem where my skystar2 dvb-s card is unable to tune any channels once it has resumed from standby.
    When this problem occurs I simply have to reboot my rig. Then all is good again.

    My standalone tvserver has always been a "24-7" thing, but now I decided to go green and have it standby during night time etc.

    Currently XP is installed on the server.

    Both the latest and older WDM and BDA drivers from technisat have been tested with the same result.

    I would blame the drivers.

    Maybe doing a clean install of win7 would sort it out ?
    Maybe not.

    I can't be the only one resuming from standby with a skystar2 card.

    I'm experiencing a problem where my skystar2 dvb-s card is unable to tune any channels once it has resumed from standby.

    You need the devcon Microsoft tool (search in this forum for x32 or x64 versions).

    Next, you can run this script (or similar) at the resume:

    Code:
    Option Explicit

    ' *********************************************
    ' This function checks if a process is running
    ' *********************************************
    Function IsProcessRunning( strProcess )
        Dim Process, strObject
        IsProcessRunning = False
        strObject   = "winmgmts:\\.\root\cimv2"
        For Each Process in GetObject( strObject ).InstancesOf( "win32_process" )
    		If UCase( Process.name ) = UCase( strProcess ) Then
                IsProcessRunning = True
                Exit Function
            End If
        Next
    End Function

    ' ===

    Dim Shell, process, prockill, return

    Set Shell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

    process   = "MediaPortal"
    prockill  = "tskill " & process

    return = Shell.Run (prockill, 0, True)

    ' Check for MediaPortal still running

    do
    	WScript.Sleep(100)
    loop while IsProcessRunning ( process & ".exe" )

    ' Stop tvservice

    return = Shell.Run("""C:\Windows\System32\net.exe""" & "stop tvservice", 1, true)

    ' Disable SkyStar2

    return = Shell.Run("""C:\\devcon.exe""" & "disable PCI\VEN_13D0*", 1, true)

    ' Enable SkyStar2

    return = Shell.Run("""C:\\devcon.exe""" & "enable PCI\VEN_13D0*", 1, true)

    ' Run MediaPortal

    return = Shell.Run("""C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Team MediaPortal\\MediaPortal\\MediaPortal.exe""", 1, false)

    Thx.

    But my problem is (in WDM drivers mode) that no software is able to use the card on resume.
    In fact if u look in XP device manager u will see a yellow exclamation mark (!) in front of it.

    The exclamation mark is only present when resuming from standby or hiber.
    Normally there isnt any problem.

    Thats why I think it looks like a driver problem.

    restarting tvservice does nothing except for the usual thing where it falsely detects the ss2 card as being analogue.

    So I think I can conclude it isnt a MP bug.

    Have you tested the corresponding drivers of Technotrend (PRODUCTS for PC) for skystar (Technisat)?

    I've an skystar HD two years ago and remember a similar problem with wake up from standby in MP
    Somewhere I read than drivers of Technotrend were equal to Technisat (for my skystarHD----> TT-S23200), I tested with succesful.
    From then I always use Technotrend drivers for my skystar HD.

    For skystar, may be the Technotren model is TT-S1401 TT-budget® S-1401

    I hope no be wrong and help you

    Cheers

    The TT drivers refuse to install .. probably the usual INF guid hack needed.

    Hey gibman!

    Later this evening I visit a friend. I'd to setup a new EeeBox B206 client for him. Maybe we also drink one or two beer. :D

    His server uses a SS2 and a SS-HD. As far as i remember his setup is working and there are no problems after standby (I also did the setup for the server but this is about one year ago).

    I'll give it a try and take a look at the used drivers for the SS2.

    Maybe I can point you in the right direction.

    P.S. I'll drink the beer after testing ;)

    cu

    Finally got windows7 installed on my tvserver.
    Using the win7 x64 4.5.1 (wdm) drivers didnt help.

    yikes.

    I guess I have to buy a new card .. since this one has crappy drivers and support.

    Probably too late now!

    I had a similar issue, and it turned out that I need to use the BDA version of the 4.5.0 drivers, the 4.5.1 causes my win7 x86 build all sorts of signal strength problems and resume problems that only a reboot would fix, but the 4.5.0 version runs perfectly

    Good luck!
