Slow Video, LOW FPS!!!! Leadtek WinFast TV 2000 Expert (1 Viewer)

I have the latest version of Media Portal. I have the latest drivers installed for my Leadtek WinFast TV 2000 Expert. When I use the program that came with my Winfast tv tuner card I have no problems watching video. When I try to watch it in mediaportal I get REDICULOUSLY LOW FPS, IT'S SLOW, AND UNWATCHABLE. I don't have time shifting on. When I hit TV on the audio comes on instantly and about 5 seconds later the picture shows. However the video is slow, and not on sync with the audio but that doens't matter becuase the video is unwatchable. I have tried several differnent codecs from cyberlink to intervideo. I do not have FFDSHOW enabled. Someone Please help me. I have been through multiple forums and no success. This is not a performance issue. I know my computer can handle this. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I wonder if this has something to do with the two widcards you are using..
is MP running on the 9800 or on the 7000?
in the later case, I can imaging it being slow..

try removing the 7000.

why do you have the second card in there?
for dual screen?

I also had the same issue, I believe the problem was that the Leadtek TV 2000 Expert is a Software Encoder and not a Harware Encoder. It gave me an excuse to upgrade to a HD Card (Compro DVBT300), and have had no other problems.

I still have a Leadtek TV 2000 Expert in another machine and continue to update software and drivers, both Leadtek and Media Portal. I believe that it is a card limitation (still a great analouge card) as I am sure I had similar problems with MCE.

The ATI 7000 is in their for dual monitor. I am currently running 3 as I am an avid video editor. I have 2 on the 9800 pro and 1 on the 7000. It could be that the card is a software card and not a hardware card, but I have read threads of people saying that their Winfast 2000 expert worked fine. In which case I want mine to work fine. I am thinking about upgrading to a hardware card simply becuase of this problem but if you guys know any solution what so ever to fix my current situation that would be most apreciated. I have also tried other HTPC programs, all of which seem to run my card fine...

I have the same processor and 1GB of ram and an AGP ATI X1300.

I have the same problem but with different card (Pinnacle DVB-T PCI Pro Dual).

Motion (FPS) is very slow when watching Live TV. No timeshifting and no recording used. It is noticable specialy on titles or some moving info line with news.

So whne you will find some solution it will be nice.

Run Mediaportal in window mode and bring up the task manager. Im guessing your CPU usage is peaking close to 100%. When I had my software encoding card, watching television would easily use up 35% CPU usage, then you add on the overhead from MP itself and any deinterlacing you're doing, and you can easily hit 100% just watching a regular MPEG stream.

I don't think so, this should not be the problem because when I run MP and watch tv cpu is about 5-10%. I'm receiving DVB-T so it is digital (MGEG2) in original. I will try to make more tests - for example if normal video file (some film) is ok or I can try to record something from tv and then play it from disk and check speed. Then I will tell.

Sorry pihrt, my suggestion was mainly for dewmaster07. You're problem is definitely different since you're using DVB-T like you said.

Your problem sounds like it's not deinterlacing the video. If you're using the MPV codec, try turning on bob or weave deinterlacing under decoder filters in the MP configuration.
