I have attached the log - I hope it's sufficient information.

Some files play without hesitation - higher quality graphics files, however, stutter and delay.

These are all files stored locally and play with perfection outside of the MP environment.

I have tried replacing Mplayer with VLC with the same results (stutter and delay).

Please let me know what else I need to provide.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks.

That would be the main slowdown, especially if using external players used within MP have the same issue.

As it's a laptop, the only things you can do is make sure you have the latest drivers for all the components, then in the BIOS for video settings found regarding memory, you change these from auto to the maximum allowed (usually 128\256mb).

    Thanks for the quick response.

I will try the BIOS option.

If I may ask, why would the video play without a problem outside of MP but have such a hard time while playing within MP?

Is it because MP is using all of the resources in the background?

Yes, the directx use is high, which then causes problems back onto the video playback, ie stuttering or no video.

Most new low to midrange ATI\Nvidia gpu's can now cope with this fine, still think intel\SIS and a couple of other gpu manufacturs have a bit of catching up to do.

I have a problem with stuttering playback too. I have this for a couple of months now, I think it started around RC2 (I use now MP1.0.0.0). Today
I added 500mb RAM to the system totalling it to 1,5GB, that didn't do the trick. The audio is always perfect and without stutter. The video sometimes stops to speed up to the sound again or stops and just skips to the right part.
I've tried several codec options but nothing would make the stuttering stop.
So tonight I had this briljant idea. Let's watch a video in WMP and not in media portal and see if it stutters there........ and it doesn't. So it must be a problem in MP itself? What can I do about this?
