I put together a box and for fun put SageTV on it. It is meh. I had looked at media portal eons ago. I decided to put in on this box as well. This is running Vista Business 64, 2gigs of Ram, some ~2.5ghz AMD CPU. Sage runs very smooth and fine. Media portal takes forever to load. Then the menu movement is obscenely slow. Any ideas where to look?

Thanks.

Graphics, MP is DX9 orientated, same as a game, so there are minimal specs ie DX9 card with at least 128mb of memory (preferably 256).

I wish that was the issue - this motherboard has a built in HD3000 card.

The way it is running is if something is hung. What happens is when I push a button on the remote (i.e. volume) it could be 2-4 seconds before it to take effect. This does not happen with SageTV, this does not happen with XBMC, this does not happen with any other app. Is there a way to check to see if there are any hung processes?

-- I ran it on a pentium 4 2.4 ghz with 1gig of ram and an fx5500 and it was great. Your machine should have the goods to easily run it.

Is sage still running on the machine?

Have you had a look at changing the process priority of MP to see if that speeds it up?

Whats the allocation of memory to GPU in the framebuffer (BIOS)?

Is sage still installed? Yes. Is it running at the same time? Nah.

I have installed XBMC on the box as well and like I said it moves fine. It just seems that Media Portal runs very slow.

I will try priority raising and look at the framebuffer issue. However, honestly, if it can run DX10, this should not be an issue :)
