I have just installed an Asus D2x soundcard, which is awsome!

When playing an DVD with VLC the sound is good as asspected (DD 5.1), but when I then open the same DVD in MP, I do net get the same experience. The sound is much poor than with VLC, and I am loosing effects, and bass.
It is the same issue when playing music (MP3s).VLC does a great job, but MP lacks the bass, and "coprrupts the music" :(

I have tried to change all audio codecs, in the Codecs section, to use ffdshop, instead of MPC (I think it was). It have gone better, but it is not as good as if I just play it with VLC.

But MP have so many audio options, that I could miss something somewhere?

Does anyone have an idea what I could do?

ffdshow is probably the most advanced audio codec there is out at the moment.

Try to play with it's settings and you will get it to work the way you like it.

    Solved it!
Changed the Asus D2x config center to use PCM and not DTS or DDL.

Doing this I could setup ffdshow to use DDL and DTS. Then I enabled the ffdshow filter inside mediaportal.

When it is setup this way, the enconding in done on the amplifier and NOT on HTPC.
