Some difficulty with client (1 Viewer)

I have had a setup running with the standard MP for quite a while on a Athlon 64 3000. I have now upgraded my system to a faster PC and installed TV3 and client. This works fine apart from the fact I cannot play back files recorded in mpeg, not a major problem though, I just use TS Streams instead. The crux of the matter is that I have now passed on the old system to my son, and have installed MP with client plugin. I have no cards in this machine, but I can run setup and set various options through that. The problem arises when I install the client plugin, everything grinds to a near stop, setup locks up, in particular when trying to access plugins. When I try to run MP, it takes about 5-10 mins to load, again most of the time hung on plugins. I can however connect eventually and get TV listings, photos and music to work. Sadly though I am unable to get a TV picture or play videos from the server. I strange thing is that I have had TV3+client running on this PC before and it worked OK. Only difference is that it is now running on a cable network. I have tried several different builds of MP, SVNs and TV3. All with the same result. I can access the server though windows nework and play videos etc, so not a network speed problem. I would very much appreciate any thoughts on this. As it is always locking, I am having some difficulty getting log files.
