Hi everyone, Once more i need to say how great mediaportal is. I use it for all my media needs in my house. At the moment i have a music/photos/media server (no TV server) installed with 3Tb Shared Storage, two media center PC's and some desktops and laptops. Most of them have MP Installed and play all media from the same Server shares (\\server\video, \\server\music etc.). Well, here come the problems... ;-) Movie and Video thumbnails I have (like most people do, i believe) two types of media - Movies and Videos (generally compressed TV or Movie rips) and Camera Videos that are taken using... well guess... my Video Camera... :-P Each Movie and Video is stored in it's own folder, with a folder.jpg file along (well, most of them) so every MP installation automatically shows the cover image for that folder. Unfortunately the files inside the folder do not use that image and just display the default graphic. To display an image for the media i have to save a jpg file with the same filename as the media... this works but it would be nice if this file is missing, then automatically to display the folder.jpg file instead of the default graphic - i believe this is a quick and easy fix... It would have been even better if the system could automatically generate thumbnails, based on video content - just like windows does for every supported file (mpg, avi, mkv etc.)... This could solve the BIG problem most of us have, while browsing camera videos - they are numerous, all stored in the same folder based on shooting date, and we can't say which video we want to play because there is no thumbnail preview... IMDB and Media Info is another annoying problem... I download IMDB info for a movie from one PC but i don't have that info on other PC's... i have to download again... I check "Watched" on one Media PC but i can't share that info on other PC's.... If we had an option to store IMDB info inside the movie/media folder, then each MP Installation will be automatically updated... Media Sorting is another BIG problem... especially when browsing music... I have my music organized in folders based on genre and i like to sort my albums based on creation date (last one saved to appear first). This works, but all music inside the albums is also sorted the same. It would have been better if there was a default sorting method for music/movies etc and then we could sort a single folder differently without affecting all folders and files under that one. I believe those are enough problems for a single post... They are not all, but they are the most annoying... I hope they are not annoying only for me, but also for the whole community. Mediaportal is still a GREAT application, even with those problems, but if the developers could sort them out, then at least some people will be even more happy... :D Thank you for listening... have a nice day.... :thx:
