sort "by date" - new feature request! (1 Viewer)

Hi,

would be nice, if the Plugin can sort by File-Attrib "last edited", because the upscending/discending sort of Movies listed by Date not really works for me...

Anyone agree with this?

Well... talk about frustration.

I have just had to do a clean reinstall of Media Portal & plugins.

Now, when viewing Moving Pictures by descending date, the order is backwards alphabetical.

Sureley, fforde, this cannot be the intention with Moving Pictures, it looks terrible. Now all 400 of my movies will be backwards alphabetical and only the newly added will be at the top !

I just want the newest movies up the top so I and my family can know which ones to go to first. Going through a list of 400+ movies by name is impossible.

Please consider fixing up this new feature.

I have thought of another way the team may be able to go about this... instead of changing the current method, maybe they could add another new field :

I think that the "sort by date" is supposed to work of the date the file was created, not the date it is added to Moving Pictures. Not long ago I read a topic about the same thing. I don't use it myself at the moment, so I can't test it, but I think that is the way it's supposed to work.

Anyway, maybe wait a bit and see how 0.8 changes things. I think it's gonna be a huge difference in how we can use MovingPictures with the filtering subsystem, så maybe your request will be possible then.

The 'sort by date' feature does currently work if you have a program to change the date created in the windows file system.

The reason I added the new feature request was to allow the sorting date to be more definate and not have to use third party programs to play around with the dates in the windows file system.

The above feature request has been accepted and has been tentatively scheduled for 0.9.0

You are correct in that 0.8.0 will make major changes/advances as to how the subsystem. However, will not change the sorting by date method.
