Sorting Music. (1 Viewer)

I scanned through the setup tutorial for getting media portal to work for music playing, maybe I missed something but I can't get the music to sort correctly.

All my music seems to be fairly well sorted, however I not been able to figure out how to get the tracks to sort starting at track 01. They always sort in the reverse order so I have to play my Albums backwards to get them to play through. So when I select sort by track etc things are always listed from (top to bottom )11, 10, 09, 08, 06, 05, 04, 03 ,02, 01.

only thing I can think of is that you've unticked "asc" (ascending) in config -> music -> Music Views -> [Your view type]. (I do trus you are using a database view, and not watching them as "files").

Yea thats the guide I skimmed. I'll double check the properties maybe I accidentally changed something in the config. I do use database view, although I tried it both ways.

click sort by track again (a 2nd time) and it will reverse the order.

I tried unchecking the asc checkbox from the sort order and it seems to have no effect. I tried changing the sort order by selecting sort by track a second time, and it also has no effect. ??? Seems I am locked in to having to play CD's in reverse order.

I'm trying to run MP Tag that again but I am getting the most unusual behavior. It launches fine. I can see the process in the task manager. if I Window -> tab I can see the MP Tag that Window, but when I select it, it does not show up. SO it's running but I can't see the window it runs in. I have tried restarting and re-installing and no luck.

double check you are in database view and not shares view.
i have a feeling the track# id3tag is empty, and the track number is part of either the track name of the file name.
get tag&rename and go and look inside the id3tags for track #s, i think they are probably blank.

I changed Skins to StreamedMP and now it seems to be working, I'm getting the arrow to reverse the sort order. Not sure what you mean by database view and shares view. I need to finish fixing all my ID3Tags for MP, but I was not refering to ID3Tags that were not playing well to media portal. I am still having some problems though.

I noticed that media portal will often append a 1 or 2 in front of the track number. I believe this is the CD number since 2 CD sets have sons that start with a 2 after the first CD's tracks, but I'm not sure what to remove from the id3tag to fix this?

Also I can't get MPTagThat to run. It launches, but I can't see the window to use the software. Since I am running Win7 when I window_key-tab I can see MPTagThat screen as the windows rotate, but when I switch to MpTagThat it does not come to the front. It's almost like it is trapped behind the desktop screen... I suppose I can run it from another machine since music is stored on a WHS server, but this is extremely annoying and is not allowing me to fix tags on the HTPC where I can see the album art or tag naming problems from.

Oh and where can I toggle DB view vs shares view? If it is an option available from within StreamedMp forgive me I need to poke around in there some more, I did not see this option with the glass skin I was using though, or at least I don't think I did...

This is the id3tag called Disc # set it to blank if you don't want mediaportal to append the disc number in front of the track

Try "tag & rename" that is my preferred id3tag editor.

It's either press the F9 button or press the right button access the side menu and choose view.

Not sure what you mean by database view and shares view.

Shares view = Browse the music shares directory via folder & filename

Database view = Browse the music via the database using data pulled from the id3tags
