After beeing away from my HTPC for more than a year, I'm trying again to get it working. I plan to migrate to the server vesion eventually, but first I need to get a client working the way I want it to work.

I'm trying to separate the applications from the data. So I've got a second drive setup to hold the media. I'm hoping to make this an NAS device in the future. The path I'm trying to use is:
E:\MediaFiles\TV
But it seems that no matter what I do the recordings always appear in:
My Documents\My Recordings

Can anyone lead me down the right path?

You can set the path for the TV recordings in MediaPortal Setup, under Television / Capture Cards / Edit - you should be able to specify E:\MediaFiles\TV in that section. This will also become the location of the Timeshifting buffer.

    Can't create graph for Device

I went to the Television section of MediaPortal - Setup and selected 'Capture Cards'. On the subsequent panel I selected the Hauppauge card and pushed Edit.
I got a dialog with the message 'Can't create graph for Device'. Sometimes I get this Dialog and sometimes not. What's going on, is there a problem with my capture card?

    Anyway, it did work. Thanks

On the TV channels panel there are some check-boxes which I assumed were enable/disable flags but that appears to be an incorrect assumption. What are they for?

Maybe you need to update the drivers for your TV card?

The channels with a green tick against them will be the ones displayed in the EPG - conversly, if you don't want a channel to appear in the EPG, then "un-tick" it.

    New drivers

The drivers were all updated from the Hauppauge sete this last weekend so they should be allright. I've noticed a strange phenomenon several times. When I actiated MediaPortal the cpu utilization jumped and then settled around 30% bu the MP window did not appear, neither did I see an entry for it in the TaskBar. When I displayed Processes and selected the highest it was MediaPortal. I selected, killed and restarted MP and it came up normally. This has happened to me several times.

Ok, the next item to get running is the EPG. I'm located in Dallas, Texas. Can I use 'zap2itlabs' (I think that's the correct spelling), I have an active account from fooling around with MythTv?

Hmm - that doesn't sound very healthy. Before you get too far with configuring MediaPortal, you might want to consider a completely fresh install.

Uninstall the current version, delete any remaining MediaPortal folders and files, reboot the PC and then install version 0.2.1.0 (the latest). Hopefully that will cure your woes ...

Here's the information about the Zap2it EPG plugin - I assume that is what you are looking for?

You can also try to place the path to d: in the first place, because i had several problems when i used a path to a directory like d:\htpc\recordings because somehow that didn't worked out.
When i changed this to d:\ then it worked. (weird problem, but it works).

Might not fix your problem, but you never know :)

    zap2it plugin

    Taipan,

Thanks for the Zap2it EPG plugin. I started looking in other threads for EPG info before I got your response, sorry about that.

Meedio reverted to its old setting

Tonight when I fired up MediaPortal it had reverted to its old habit. The TV recordings are back to their original value. There must be someplace else where these default values are stored. Anyone know where that is?

No, there is no place else ..... :(

I think there is something seriously wrong with your installation of Mediaportal, given the odd problems you have described. As I suggested earlier, you should consider starting again with a completely fresh install of MediaPortal 0.2.1.0.

I am using MP 0.2.1.0 and I don't have any of the issues you have described ... :)
