    Hi all.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I am VERY chuffed at this excellent software. Media Portal is definately a million times better than Microsofts effort. ( although I USED to like that! ). Superb stuff!

As I am just learning the 'ropes' regarding this software, being a nerd, I am already tinkering around with the skins etc. I do have a problem though. I have successfully installed a few skins and basically had a good gander at them, but the one that I would really like to see is 'Spinsafe Revolve'. There are two things with this that I just don't see.

    1. The 'spinning' menu.
    2. MORE important ( to me anyway ) is the nice looking reflective video browser thing that I have been viewing on the screenshots on this site. All I get is a standard looking display of the dvd covers without any 'prettyness'.

I am really at a loss at this. As far as I know I have all the necessary software installed and my pc is the dogs bits. I am using v2.2.0 of Media Portal. As a last gasp effort however, I have also tried the svn build that is mentioned in the skin's download section to see if that helps. But nothing is giving me what is shown on those delightful screenshots?

Can anyone offer any advice? I have looked all through this forum, and I can't see anything about this sort of thing.

For the spinning menu to appear you need to check "Use the basic home screen" in General options of MP. You can also try it by simply pressing 'H' on your keyboard (or the green MCE button on a MCE remote).

For the reflections to appear you need to download an SVN-version of MP. The latest stable build does not yet have this implemented...Keep in mind that SVN-version do not have the same stability (duh) as stable releases and that bugs might and will pop up.

Thanks for that mate. Now got the old spinning menu on. Quite cool isn't it?
Bit gutted with the 'no reflections' mate. How come there are screenshots showing this in operation though? There must be some sort of 'build' out there?

There are a lot of "builds" out there. Check the forum "MediaPortal 'Nightly Builds'" for latest SVN version which you can install on top of "0.2.2.0 stable" release that you are currently running. Keep in mind that if you install this SVN build your MediaPortal might get instable since it's ehm.. (once again) not a stable release :)

Thanks. I have actually installed just the stable v2.2.0 version on my htpc, where as I do some testing of the svns etc on my main pc. That screenshot of that reflective stuff is well cool, stunning in fact. It would certainly be the skin I would use if I could!
There are certainly some very clever and artistic people behind these.
