Today, I completely deinstalled my old MP 0.2.3.0, removed all remaining program and data folders and the software\mediaportal registry entries, and installed 1.0.0.0 (client only).
Everything works fine, only the startup splash screen shows version 0.2.3.0 (both the classic splash screen and the new full screen version).
Where is that version number stored??
(On my other PC, it shows 1.0.0.0 as expected)
You can see be behavior in the attached log file.
Thanks for any help!

Might be an idea to detect the virtual store directory for vista users during installatioon, if there exists MediaPortal directories in the Program Files and ProgramData section then clean them up...just a thought.

Yes, it is a known issue.
    Developers are already discussing possibilities.

I had same problem on XP x86, this bug disappear after reinstalling MP with MySQL database. Two previous reinstallations with SQLExpress didn't correct the problem.

Ahh, thank you. I was having the same problem with old config files in vista's VirtualStore after I did a "clean" install of 1.0.0.0 final.

Not only was an old version showing on the splash screen (1.0.0.0 RC2), but also WebEPG-conf was failing when i tried to import channel data from TV Server with the log file showing that it was trying to connect to the old TV server database. (the database changed names on my setup between RC2 and final)
