why not have a spread media portal like spread firefox

Well mediaportal will never spread like firefox, everyone uses an internet browser, not everyone has a media center computer. But I would argee that mediaportal isnt as know as mythtv. I am unsure, I dont find mythtv to be all that great....

About 3 days ago I tried to make the switch from mediaportal to mythtv, and its a mess. I like linux, but its not worth the time it takes to get setup. I spent 5+ hours trying to get my MCE keyboard to work, minus the learning curve I had to do to get mythtv setup with my tuner card, which was probably another 3 to 5 hours. Finally last night I and said forget it.... Here I come Mediaportal :D

I have spent the past month and a half getting Media Portal to work on my HTPC but is worth it now. The missus loves the fact that we can watch everything with one remote.

Spreading the word is hard when you have to spend so long setting things up, no offence but Media Portal isn't an off the shelf product that Joe Bloggs can put on his machine and everything runs smoothly. You need a little knowlede of the computing world.

I am not putting this software down as I think it is personally the best thing since sliced bread I just think that it would be off putting to a new comer.

Hey, I know Joe Bloggs, and he's a lot smarter than he looks. :)

Isn't this normal? I mean perhaps you should first do some config before you can start using mediaportal?

I've setup my HDHomeRun in MP1 as (4) IPTV cards rather than Atsc. I can see the (4) Atsc cards, but just have them disabled. I did it this way so I didn't have to edit the channel names every time tested a new TV-server install. Anyway, it works. I don't know if this would get you past the BDA driver issue. I'll provide more...

If I understand correctly, your device is combination of DVB-C tuner, router and some web access to play the channels in PC web browser. You can sniff http comunication with the help of Wireshark or Fiddler to determine channel url which can be used to create IPTV channel in TV server. If the url is not static(changes dynamically)...
